Homemade Ice Cream in Biddeford Maine
Local Couple Pasteurizes and Makes Their Own Ice Cream in Biddeford
Jackie and Jon pasteurize their own ice cream using locally sourced Harris Farm dairy to make a unique and amazing ice cream right here in the Pepperell Mill Campus. And in the process, these two have built a business together, recently gotten married, and now serve up everything from unique peanut butter and jelly flavors, to their signature Sweetcream Vanilla.

Who are you and where are you from?
Jacqui DeFranca and Jonathan Denton are the owners of Sweetcream Dairy. Jacqui is originally from West Boylston, Massachusetts and Jon is from Biddeford, Maine. The pair met in New York City and moved to Maine in fall of 2015.
Tell me a little about your business?
Sweetcream Dairy is an ice cream parlor that uses local ingredients to make their own ice cream.
What made you choose the mill for your business?
We loved the location and it is Jon’s hometown so it seemed like a great spot to start our business.
How long have you been doing this?
We have been in business since July 16, 2016
What makes your business interesting to you?
What makes our business interesting to us is the relationship developed with the farming community, experimenting with different flavors, and the overall love people share for ice cream.
What makes you stand out from others in the same industry?
We pasteurize our own ice cream base using Harris Farm cream and milk. This is different from most ice cream shops because we do not buy a mix, we make it in house. Sourcing local milk and cream is a major difference in our ice cream versus others in the industry.
