Please Show Your Support for Biddeford’s Future
After months of negotiations with Casella Waste Systems, Biddeford officials have reached a deal to buy the Maine Energy Recovery Co. trash incinerator for $6.6 million, with plans to halt its operations and demolish it by the end of next year. The city council will be holding a public hearing this Tuesday, July 3rd at 7 pm. We understand that this meeting may interfere with your 4th of July plans, but it is extremely important that you be there.
This is the one and only opportunity that we have to ask the city council to support this deal. The final vote will occur on Tuesday, July 31st at 7 pm.
The closure of MERC is vital for the redevelopment of the mills and Biddeford’s future. Please speak your mind and make your opinion known at the public hearing on July 3rd. We look forward to seeing you there.
